While braces are the preferred method to straighten teeth in most cases, it is not the only way to do it. Depending on the severity of your alignment issues, you may be a candidate for Invisalign® clear aligners. Rather than using wires and brackets like traditional braces, Invisalign uses clear trays to gradually align teeth to the correct position with less pain and discomfort and in less time than traditional metal braces.

How Long Does a Dental Implant Procedure Take?

The dental implant procedure is done in multiple stages. Therefore, the exact time a dental implant procedure will take depends on the individual patient. Under ideal circumstances, an implant can be installed in about three months from the post's installation until the prosthetic tooth's final installation. In severe cases, it can take over a year if multiple teeth need to be removed and other dental work done beforehand.

Will my insurance cover all cosmetic and general dental treatments?

The exact amount and type of coverage that you have will depend on your provider and your plan. However, in most cases, dental insurance will cover necessary dental treatments like exams, cleanings, and extractions provided by general dentistry but will not cover purely cosmetic procedures. There are some exceptions to the rule, and individual plans will vary, so it's best to talk with a policy expert about what is and is not covered under your coverage plan.

Do you provide all dental services in your office, or will I have to go to different offices for different procedures?

Yes, we strive to be a comprehensive dental practice, so all our services are performed at our dental clinic. We know that no one wants to drive from clinic to clinic to get the procedures they need to be done when they could have them all under one roof in less time and with less hassle than run-of-the-mill dental clinics you often find on every corner.

Why would I need different types of dental x-rays?

Dental x-rays are used for diagnostic purposes to get a clear mouth image to check for and treat potential issues. Multiple types of x-rays may be necessary to get the full picture of your mouth or pinpoint the area the dentist wishes to see. Standard x-rays are flat and can only show one side of the mouth at a time, whereas 3D x-rays provide a more effective view of the mouth.

Do you offer dental implants? Does insurance cover them?

We do offer dental implants as part of our restorative dentistry treatments. While we cannot speak for all patients and insurance policies, depending on your plan, a pre-authorization will be sent to determine if your plan covers implant fees. However, more specialized plans may offer coverage for these restorative or elective procedures depending on the provider and the carrier for the insurance.

Do you offer tooth extraction? When do you recommend tooth extraction?

Yes, we offer both simple and complex tooth extractions. We suggest a tooth extraction in a few circumstances, such as when a tooth has decayed or become damaged at the roots where it cannot be saved. Our most common reason for recommending a tooth extraction is when wisdom tooth removal is necessary. Many patients need their wisdom teeth removed to make room for the rest of their natural teeth and to prevent further dental issues.

How long does Invisalign® treatment take?

Invisalign is roughly 50% faster than standard braces. For example, a patient that would normally need to wear braces for two years may only need to wear Invisalign for 12 months. The exact length of time will vary by patient. On average, Invisalign is considerably faster than traditional braces and other alignment correcting options, making it a favored option by patients.

Why is a root canal needed?

Root canals are not done to cause dental patients pain. They are done when there is a problem with a tooth's root system, such as when the roots are damaged or infected. The dentist goes into the canals where the roots are supposed to rest and clean out any debris and infection while also removing dead or damaged roots to protect the tooth from further harm or needing to be extracted.

Is it worth getting your teeth whitened at the dentist's?

If you want whitening that works and gets your teeth many shades whiter in a fraction of the time of other options, then getting your teeth whitened at the dentist is the best choice. At-home trays and kits use different qualities and quantities of ingredients available from a dentist. The choice is clear when you combine the better ingredients with the dentist's knowledge of teeth whitening and access to better technology.
